The Boat

The Boat Moored tethered Protected sheltered From weather & wave Afloat but tied & tiered To decks & cabin fore & aft When will this boat be cast Adrift to waters new Slow journeys In days that pass In mist and haze To moor once again On shores foreign exotic Journey imagined Romantic, hopeful, quixotic But for now still unmoved Moored tethered I love transport that is still, but full of the promise of journeys to come. Boats moored...planes secured to an air bridge...trains up against the buffers alongside the platform. For now at rest, but where will they travel to this time next week, next month, years...10 years. I love this photo taken in the Albert Dock, Liverpool. I was lucky with beautiful sunshine and calm mirrored water in the dock.
