History Remains

History remains Nothing but brick And mortared stone Nothing but crumbling ruin And fragments strewn impassive For history is lifeless untold Motionless cold unconsidered Until story and tale Are told to each generation regaled By life breathed into those cold stones Colour restored in vivid tones Opening the pictures of our past The telling of history Written into memory Remembered not forgotten _________________________________ History is as important as it always has been in shaping our understanding of life today. History provides context and meaning and understanding - who we are and how we arrived where we are now.
