Bus Trip Britain

Bus Trip Britain

There's more of them than us

Pojedziemy pieszo czy pojedziemy autobusem?

(Shall we walk or take the bus?)

And they haven't had their Covid jabs

Privirea pe care o primim, mă întristează

(The looks we get, it makes me sad)

I won't sit next to one of them

나는 더 많은 영어 친구가 있었으면 좋겠다

(I wish I had more English friends)

Why don't they speak English like you and me?

انګلیسي زده کول ګران دي ، زه مخکې له e څخه پرته د c وروسته

(English is hard to learn...'i before e except after c')

Just look at all these foreign shops and cafes

Ignorišite ih, ne slušajte šta govore

(Just ignore them, don't listen to what they say)

It wasn't like this 20 years ago

Tôi nhớ lần đầu tiên tôi nhìn thấy tuyết!

(I remember the time I first saw snow!)

You've got all sorts here now, you see

Menjünk Costára kávézni?

(Shall we go to Costa for a coffee?)

Why don't they go back home?

Секунду, я думаю, это мой телефон

(One second, I think that's my phone)

We don't need them, let the English do the jobs

Ndio, ninafanya zamu ya ziada, asante Bwana Hobbs

(Yes, I can do an extra shift, thank you Mr Hobbs)

It's all their fault there's nothing in the shops

I'm sorry I overheard you talking,

Just getting off here,

This is my stop, the shop

I work at is over there,

Which I work hard to restock,

Before I go home. My home.

Which is here now. England

A green and white and black

And brown and every colour

Pleasant land.

Thank you and have a lovely day.

I'm sorry you're shocked,

But I didn't want to be rude or interrupt you

And stop your anti immigrant, racist bile,

So until next time I'll leave you with positive thoughts,

Tara a bit as you say here, and a big smile.

Please forgive me if I make any English mistakes,

Especially with grammar,

so I'm awfully sorry

Please excuse me,

Now where are my manners?

Casual or overt racism, bigotry, mistrust, intolerance, uninformed and judgmental. It has to be challenged and it has to stop.

Language is identity

Nationality is identity

But we can & must identify first & foremost as human beings sentient intelligent kind
