Winter Rhythms

Winter Rhythms A cold wind tore At face and flesh Slicing into bone That rattled in shivers Which drummed winter rhythms In time with branches shaken And trees swaying Impatient to be clothed In spring's warming blossom Yet the waters were still Unmoved and unconcerned Absorbing cold and colour and sound But reflecting calm As all around winter Shattered the silence ____________________________ Photo taken on a beautiful sunny, but bitter cold afternoon. When the sun gave an illusion of warmer days to come and the water was blue, tranquil and inviting. But the winds blew frozen and loud.
