I Didn't Want to Kill Today

I Didn’t Want to Kill Today

I didn’t want to kill today.

In school and house and hospital, no

Say it was done in the name of peace,

Gunning down children

Running in the streets.

Let us all pray for peace.

Let us all pray for an end.

But, let us not blindly pretend,

I didn’t want to kill today.

I didn’t want to kill today.

In Kibbutz and farm and home, no

Say it was done in the name of peace,

Exploding bomb and grenade

While people peacefully sleep.

Let us all pray for peace.

Let us all pray for an end.

But, let us not ignorantly pretend,

I didn’t want to kill today.

I didn’t want to kill today.

As I bow down in mosque, synagogue

Church and temple, no

Say it was done in the name of peace.

Say Alhamdulillah!, Hallelujah!

Praise be to God! One and the same.

Let us all pray for peace.

Let us all pray for an end.

But let us not sadly pretend

I didn’t want to kill today.

I Didn't Want to Kill Today

A poem that was hard to write.

All religions preach peace, unity, tolerance, respect for others, the sanctity of life.

We are all brothers & sisters in humanity. If only we remembered that.

Both sides bear responsibility.

Peace, love, kindness, tolerance, respect, unity, generosity, understanding, acceptance.

We can do all the above without impediment to ourselves, only benefit. Yet many chose the opposite path.

I wis everyone peace pray for a

#CeasefireNOW in Gaza and an end to the madness and inhumanity. Peace is the only way.
