Veterans

In January 2017, aged 96, my Grandad, Ernest Frobisher, received France's highest honour - le Legion d'Honeur - for his part in the Normandy landings and the liberation of France during World War 2.

For my Grandad and all the other veterans. They deserve our respect, always. Veterans Veterans Never ran In face of fear In face of foe In face of death Veterans Ran towards enemy unseen Bullets and bombs Bayonet and gun But never turned away Veterans Ran gauntlets of fire Saw friends cut down To remain forever young Earth reclaiming falling sons Veterans Always ran side by side For freedom liberty from tyranny's sound Senseless war But duty bound Veterans Ran ran ran Though those who could no longer run Would never be Veterans
