Old Eyes

Old Eyes

The old man lent me his eyes,

Cataract clouds, yet behind the milky hue

Lay the memories and wisdom of life.

The clarity & experience of decades.

The old man lent me his eyes

And I saw the world in a different light.

I blinked, understanding the one with cataracts

Was me.

There is so much wisdom in those who have lived to an old age. We should revere our elderly, we should respect them, not discard them as irrelevant or past it. We would do well to listen to them and see life through their eyes.
