Wave Watching

Wave Watching

I liked the way

You watched the waves.

Surprise on your face

As each one grew to

A rising presence.

A force of nature

Cresting to a

Crescendo of energy.

But then falling,

Folding in on itself.

A sudden disappearance,

As if it had never

Held a place

In this world.

I liked the way

You watched the waves.

As I too watch the waves

Pulsing presence.

Pounding memories

That ebb and flow,

That rise and break.

I liked the way

You watched the waves.

And remembered every one.

Though I remember none at all.

Except you.

Memories of watching the waves with my daughter Milla. Rest in peace Milla. We'll watch the waves again one day.
